स्नान के लिए पानी का चुनाव
यदि पीने वाला पानी शुद्ध चाहिए तो स्नान वाला पानी भी अवश्य साफ होना चाहिए | कब गरम पानी से नहाएँ, गरम हो तो कितना, और कब ठंडे पानी से ही स्नान करना चाहिए, अनुभय सिखा देता है | क्या हम कहीं भी, कभी भी स्नान कर सकते हैं ? नहीं |
स्नान करने के लिए कम पानी नहीं, कम-से-कम दो बाल्टी पानी लें, तभी शरीर की सफाई हो पायेगी |
कुछ शरीर-वैज्ञानिक गरम पानी से कभी भी स्नान नहीं करने की बात जोर देकर कहते हैं | उनका मानना है कि गरम पानी से स्नान करना तवचा तथा स्नायुओं के लिए नुकसानदायक रहता है |
वैध हरिश्चंद्र की माने तो हमें सदा गरम पानी से स्नान करना चाहिए | यह शरीर के लिए उतना ही अच्छा है, जितना गर्म दूध पीना, घी खाना |

सुक्ष्रुत में आता है कि नहाते समय सर पर गरम पानी डालने से आँखों पर भी बुरा असर पड़ता है |
गाँव में बच्चों या बड़ो का तालाब, जोहड़ आदि में स्नान करना रोगों को निमंत्रण देना है |
चरक सहिंता में आता है कि वर्षो के नदी, नालों में बहते पानी से भी स्नान नहीं करना चाहिए | इस पानी में मिट्टी, कीड़े, साँप, चूहे आदि के विष्टा वाला दूषित पानी हमारे स्वास्थ्य को बिगाड़ देता है |
तालाब, जोहड़, नालों में विषैले जला, मल-मूत्र-युक्त जल, कीचड़ आदि हूते हैं, ऐसे पानी में ना नहाएँ |
पीने के लिए शुद्ध, नहाने के लिए साफ पानी होगा तो रोग मुक्त जीवन पा लेंगे | स्वस्थ रह पाएँगे |
