Vomiting
Vomiting is a symptom and not a disease by itself. It can be caused by a large number of causes like gastritis, indigestion, gastric ulcer, gastroenteritis, cancer of the stomach, peritonitis, and intestinal obstruction. It may be mild stomach and get cured by itself. However the serious disorders listed above require medical treatment.
First aid
- If it is a mild stomach upset, give the patient an antacid and an antiemetic tablet.
- Shift him to a hospital immediately if he has severe disease, if the vomiting is persistent and progressively increasing in severity, if he vomits out blood, or if the vomit smells like feces.
