First aid treatment of Chromium poisoning its causes, prevention and diagnose-“Occupational Hazards”

Chromium poisoning

It is a lustrous, hard, metallic element that is resistant to corrosion. It is used in manufacture of steel furniture.

Its poisoning is diagnosed by the following features.

  1. The victim has headache, nausea, and vomiting.
  2. There is weakness in legs.
  3. Respiration is deep and difficult.
  4. There may be ringing in the ears.
  5. The skin may become red. Blisters may develop.

First Aid

  1. Remove the victim from the site of poisoning immediately.
  2. Keep the patient absolutely immobile to reduce body oxygen demands. Give oxygen through tight- fitting mask.
  3. Shift him to a hospital immediately.
