कोयल
यह जड़ी खुले मैदानों और जंगलों में पाई जाती है । इसके पत्ते छोटे गुलाब की भांति होते हैं । इस पर फल के रूप में लंबी फलियां लगती हैं ।
लाभ तथा गुण
कोयल दो प्रकार की होती है –
1. सफेद कोयल
2. नीली कोयल
इन दोनों के गुण करीब-करीब तो मिलते हैं परंतु फिर भी उपयोग में अंतर उसी प्रकार से आता है, जैसे काला जीरा तथा सफेद जीरा ।
सफेद कोयल
इसकी तासीर ठंडी होती है । इससे नेत्र रोगों के उपचार में काफी सहायता मिलती हैं ।
विष का नाश करने तथा त्रिदोष, सिर के दर्द, दाह, कुष्ठ, शूल, आमयवात पित्त, शोध कृमि वरण तथा सांप के विष को नाश करने में सहयोगी बूटी मानी जाती है ।
नीली कोयल
सफेद कोयल की भांति ही इसकी पहचान है फर्क इतना है कि इसके फलों तथा फूलों का रंग नीला होता है । इस नीली कोयल के पत्तों, फलों तथा जड़ का उपयोग वैद्द लोग आम बूटियों की भांति ही करते हैं । पित्त, बुखार, दाद, भ्रम, पिशाचवाधा रक्तातिसार, मदात्यय, श्वास, क्षय, कास जैसे रोगों में इसके सेवन से लाभ होता है ।
