Heart attack
If the blood supply to the heart is suddenly obstructed by a clot in one of the coronary arteries, the heart muscle undergoes infarction (death). This is called a heart attack.
The condition is diagnosed by the following features:
- The onset is acute and occurs usually at rear
- There is retrostenal pain which is of gripping or constricting nature. It is not relived by rest.
- There is excessive sweating and vomiting.
- Breathlessness and restlessness are often present.
- The pulse is rapid.
- Cyanosis may be present.
First aid
- Place the patient in comfortable position.
- Monitor his vital parameters.
- Send him to a hospital immediately
