Burns-Rope burns: Its cause and first aid treatment

These are friction bums caused by a rope running through the hands or between the legs, as in the following conditions.

1. Gymnastics.
2. Mountaineering.
3. Sailing.

First aid

1. Cool the affected area by placing it in cold water
2. When the pain has subsided, dry the burnt area gently and cover it with sterile, fry dressing.
3. Cover hands with gloves while handling ropes.
