Nose Bleeding: Causes and its first aid treatment
Bleeding occurs either from the blood vessels inside the nostrils or from a fractured skull. In case of fracture of the skull, tie blood is mixed with cerebrospinal fluid.
First Aid
- Place the victim in sitting position with his head well forward.
- Loosen tight clothing around the neck.
- Ask him to breathe through the mouth and spit out any blood that enters the mouth.
- Gently clean around the nose and the mouth.
- Do not plug the nose.
- Ask him not to blow the nose for at least 4 hours after the bleeding stops, as that may dislodge the blood clot and start the bleeding again.
- Shift him to a doctor’s clinic for further evaluation and treatment.
