First aid treatment of bleeding from Ear
It occurs from injury to the external ear or a fracture of the skull. The victim may experience pain in the ear, deafness or impairment of hearing, and neurological symptoms if there is a fracture of the skull. In that case, the blood is mixed with watery cerebrospinal fluid.
First Aid
- Place the victim in half-sitting position with his head tilted to the side of bleeding so as to permit easy drainage of blood.
- Cover the ear with a sterile dry dressing.
- Do not plug the ear.
- Check vital parameters and level of consciousness every ten minutes.
- If he becomes unconscious and cardiorespiratory arrest develops, begin resuscitation immediately.
- Shift him to a hospital immediately.
