First aid treatment of bleeding from Ear

It occurs from injury to the external ear or a fracture of the skull. The victim may experience pain in the ear, deafness or impairment of hearing, and neurological symptoms if there is a fracture of the skull. In that case, the blood is mixed with watery cerebrospinal fluid.

First Aid

1. Place the victim in half-sitting position with his head tilted to the side of bleeding so as to permit easy drainage of blood.
2. Cover the ear with a sterile dry dressing.
3. Do not plug the ear.
4. Check vital parameters and level of consciousness every ten minutes.
5. If he becomes unconscious and cardiorespiratory arrest develops, begin resuscitation immediately.
6. Shift him to a hospital immediately.
