Acriflavine

It is an agent used for preventing the growth of microorganism. But it cannot kill microorganisms.

Features

it is aniline derivative, soluble in water.

It is orange in powder from and yellow in 1:1000 aqueous solutions.

It stains tissues yellow.

It has a bacteriostatic and bactericidal action upon a variety of bacteria, especially gram positive bacteria in an alkaline medium.
