Important and Necessary Principles of First Aid 

  1. Assess the situation quickly and take measures indicated as life saving first.
  2. Place a bed sheet, blanket, or newspapers under the victim placed on the ground to reduce loss of body.
  3. Avoid unnecessary movement of handling except to remove the victim from additional danger.
  4. Reassure the patient that everything will be all right.
  5. Prevent shock.
  6. Do not give anything orally if the victim is likely to require an anesthetic for surgery soon.
  7. Do not transport patients except for a life saving measure until first aid has been completed.
  8. Get professional and nonprofessional personnel, equipment, and supplies as close to the scene of the disaster as possible.
  9. Continue first aid during the evacuation of patients from the disaster area.
