Medicinal use of Slippery Elm in Dysentery, Diarrhea, Bronchitis

Slippery Elm: Ulmus Fulva

Part used: Inner bark

Demulcent, emollient, nutritive

Useful in dysentery, diarrhea, diseases of the urinary tract and bronchitis. The bark chewed will relieve heartburn. Externally, as a poultice, it is useful for inflammations, boils, etc. also effective for rectal and vaginal suppositories. Chew and swallow the juice for minor sore throat. It is an antidote for many poisons. Acts same as the white part of egg. Use the tea as an enema.
