Medicinal use of Prickly Ash in Paralysis, Rheumatism and Hepatitis

Prickly Ash:  Xanthoxylum 

Part used: Bark and berries

Stimulant, tonic, alterative, sialagogue

As a stimulant in languid states of the system. Has proved effective in paralysis of the tongue and mouth, for rheumatism, hepatitis. Berries are stimulant, carminative, anti-spasmodic, and active especially on the mucous membranes. Will increase flow of saliva. If taken on an irritable stomach, may cause vomiting. For numbness and poor circulation.
