Medicinal use of Juniper and Lady Slipper

Juniper: Juniperus communis

Part used: Bark and berries

Diuretic, gently stimulant

Effective for kidney, urinary and bladder trouble. Excellent as a spray for fumigation. Preventive of disease. Berries can be chewed, or a strong tea used as a gargle when exposed to contagious diseases ; a good immunizer. Too large doses may cause irritation in the urinary passage. A counter – poison. Good in dropsy and gravel. Assures a safe, speedy delivery. Strengthens the brain, memory and optic nerve. Used in leprosy and ague. Combine with peach leaves and a little marshmallow for good results.

Lady Slipper: Cypripedium Pubescens

Part used: Root. Should be gathered in August or September.

Tonic, stimulant, diaphoretic, antispasmodic. Excellent for hysteria, nervous irritability, nervous headache.
