Medicinal uses of Black Pepper or Kali Mirch in Indigestion, Fever, Dry Cough, Skin Diseases and Worm Infestation

Suffering from loss of appetite, occasional cough and colds, recurrent skin ailments? Here is an easy home cure. Black Pepper or Kali Mirch activates the gastric fire, works as a wormicide and acts as a pain killer. It is pungent in taste, light and intense and hot in potency. Also, black Pepper is rich in Vitamin A & B and contains minerals like Calcium, iron and Phosphorous. It is an essential ingredient of Indian kitchen and is handy and useful in treating a number of common ailments.

Uses

Indigestion: it is an ailments of the gastric system in which the patient suffers from heaviness of the abdomen after each meal along with loss of hunger. A small quantity of Kali Mirch with some buttermilk will give quick relief.

Gastritis: if there is burning sensation in  the epigastric region, which might be associated with poor appetite and loose bowls, it is useful to take one fourth of a tea spoon of black pepper powder with lemon water before the meals.

Recurrent Bouts of Cough: if you are suffering from cough , take two to three black pepper, add a few cumin seeds & some salt.

Fever:  Intake of powdered pepper [one fourth tea spoon] with water and sugars, every four hours can be of help.

Common cold: During the first stage of cold, the patient suffers from continuous water discharge from the nose. Half a teaspoon of Kali Mirch powder can be boiled in a glass full of milk and given to the patient at bedtime.

Dry Cough: Take 2-3 freshly grounded Kali Mirch, add some Mishri and ghee in equal quantities for extraction of the dried phlegm.

Toothache: Regular massage with powdered black pepper relieves pain and also prevents frequent dental problems.

Pyorrhea: when there is purulent discharge from the gums associated with bleeding. Try a gentle massage of pepper powder on the gums with some salt added to it.

Nasal Block: This is a condition in which the person is unable to breathe properly owing to phlegm, which has stuck into the nostrils. Inhale a mixture of Cinnamon, cardamom, cumin seeds and Black Pepper taken in equal quantities three four times a day.

Irritable Bowel Syndrome: in this condition, there are frequent loose stools along with expulsion of mucous. For relief, take some Kali Mirch, to this add Saindhav Salt, Aniseed, dried mint and Large Cardamom.

Flatulence: There is excessive production and expulsion of wind along with foul smell. 4 or 5 freshly grounded pepper in a glassful   of water with a few drops of lemon taken early morning on empty stomach can cure the same

Diarrhea: Chew 4 – 5 pepper for some time and swallow the juice. Water if taken afterwards help further. Repeat this twice or thrice a day depending upon the severity of the condition.

Loss of Appetite: Take   a mixture of powders of pepper, cumin seeds dried ginger and Saindhav salt in equal quantities after meals along with some warm water.

Worm Infestation: take some black pepper powder and salt along with buttermilk.

Hoarseness of Voice: take some Kali Mirch and mishri and masticate. The juice thus produced help cure the ailment.

Skin Diseases: For the pimples or boils, take some black pepper powder and add little ghee to the same. Application on the affected areas can provide relief.

Eyesight: Regular intake of pepper powder with some honey acts as boon for better vision.

Brain Tonic: Take some Brahmi leaves and shallow fry in desi ghee. To this add pepper and some sugar. This mixture can be taken regularly as it promotes the power of the brain.
